National Annexes have been or are being developed for each Eurocode to enable them to be applied in Germany. The majority of the 58 National Annexes have now been published and are also available in "packages" for use in Germany. This also applies to the English translations.
The National Annexes contain the parameters left open to national choice in the relevant Eurocode, the "Nationally Determined Parameters (NDPs)". This allows these values to be used in Germany, although the recommendations in the Eurocode itself should be followed wherever possible.
There are are also rules governing the status of informative annexes, where available. According to Guidance Paper L the following options are allowed:
- The informative status is endorsed.
- The annex can be given normative status.
- The annex can be dispensed with.
- The annex can be replaced by national provisions.
The following additional information can also be given:
- Non-contradictory complementary information to assist the user in applying the Eurocode
- Explanatory information in respect of individual provisions
